Laffy Taffy

Tantalise Your Tastebuds with a Homade Version of Laffy Taffy!

Fruity and most definitely chewy, this taffy recipe will have your friends and family asking for more. Be sure to make enough!

Ingredients:

1 Cup sugar
1 Tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
2/3 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon flavoured extract of your choice
2 drops food colouring of your choice

 

Instructions:

  1. Grease a heatproof pan and set aside.
  2. Fit a saucepan with a candy thermometer.
  3. Add the sugar to the pan.
  4. Sift cornstarch into pan and stir until combined well.
  5. Add the butter, light corn syrup, salt, water, vanilla, and flavour extract to the pan and whisk to combine.
  6. Turn on heat to medium and until the mixture reaches 120 degrees C or 250 degrees F.
  7. Add the food colouring and stir.
  8. Pour mixture in prepped pan and let cool for 5-10 minutes.
  9. Now that you are able to handle the candy, stretch it out 30 cm or 12 inches and fold it over itself. Do this again and again for 10-12 minutes.
  10. The taffy should turn opaque.
  11. On a greased surface, cut the taffy into bite sized pieces.
  12. Wrap each piece in baking paper.
  13. Enjoy!
